Davey Blair joins Naish International Pro Kiteboarding Team

Maui, HI

Naish is proud to announce that Davey Blair has joined our international team. Davey has been one of the most interesting stars on the kiteboarding scene. He is a well rounded rider who is comfortable and creative in any aspect of kiteboarding. For the past seven winters he has been pushing the evolution of waveriding on the North Shore of Oahu. Naish is looking forward to adding Davey’s unique style to the mix.

Here are a few words from Davey to catch you up to speed:

Name: Davey Blair
From: Charleston SC
Loves: Riding
Favorite trick: back melon to blind / Back roll indy entry to a big wave
Favorite set up: 10m Park and 6’0 global quad fin
Favorite spots: North Shore, Sullivans Island, OBX

Who are you, why do you ride and what’s your story?

Riding makes sense to me. I got on a skateboard when I was seven. Surfing soon followed, then wakeboarding which turned into kiteboarding.

Kiteboarding is my passion, I love it. I lived in Cabarete for some time and from there, moved to North Shore Oahu. I spent the last 7 years on the north shore using the kite to catch any wave I could. I caught some of the biggest waves of my life, but it took persistence to get there. There is something about being on the bottom of the ocean fighting to get back up that makes me feel alive. The north shore is with out a doubt where the progression of kitesurfing is evolving. I am blessed for the time I spent on north shore tuning my skills in the surf. It has made my career and the person I am today. Living next to John Bilderback, top Photographer/Videographer and one of my best friends was a cherry on top. I have recently moved off the north shore. I plane on returning sooner than later. I am living in Charleston SC, where I grew up. I miss the North shore like crazy for the lifestyle and waves but being home has sparked some new ideas and opportunity’s. Rebootizer, Chucktown, and the Dubplates have created the Winning Waves Foundation. We work with the mislead youth and show them the positivity that riding a board or playing music can bring. Chucktown and Dubplates will also be staring in a reality TV show called Chuck & Chalice. Its about the interaction between my lifestyle as a pro kiteboarder and the reggae band the Dubplates. We are all best friends and have grown up together so the content is original and exciting. I am pleased to claim Naish as my premier gear sponsor. Their gear works great. They believe in my dreams and passions as an athlete witch gives me the confidence I need to succeed. Naish has some of the best ideas and plans I have ever heard from a kite company. Stay tuned for the best to come from me and Naish. I am honored to fly the flag and help push the sport. – Davey Blair
